Pentax Goes Amphibious
What better way to gear up for summer than with a pocket-sized digital camera that delivers high-quality images both on land and while submerged to a depth of 3’? Long known for their rugged, compact 35mm all-weather cameras, Pentax has introduced the sleek 5-megapixel OptioWP that’s ideal for snorkeling, sailing or in just about any situation in which your camera might get wet. Measuring just 4x2x0.9”, the OptioWP features a sharp 3x zoom lens and an oversized 2.0” low reflection LCD that’s easy to view, even under bright outdoor conditions.

In addition to its SD memory card capability, the camera features 10MB of built-in memory and a unique feature that enables you to recover images or audio files that have been accidentally deleted. Autofocusing is fast and accurate thanks to a very responsive nine-point AF system, which offers a continuous AF mode as well as a Tracking AF function for maintaining sharp focus on moving subjects. The OptioWP also captures movies at 30 fps in JPEG format. For more information visit www.pentaximaging.com.

Portable Studio For Product Photos
You gotta love its simplicity! The D-Flector from Sharpics is one of those unique products with an uncommon combination of functionality, clean design, and affordability. Essentially a white seamless background inside an attractive hardwood portfolio case, the easy-to-carry D-Flector is ideal for shooting small objects. Simply place the case on a table or desk, open it up, position your subject on the 24x35” background, and shoot away. Besides the D-Flector, all you really need to create great product photos is your camera, a flash unit and a tripod or other form of camera support.

The seamless background is made of a highly-reflective easy-to-clean material that “activates” when photographed with a flash or studio strobe, resulting in a bright white appearance. This “portable studio” retails for only $129 (a good price for the outer case itself), and features four non-skid feet, chrome-plated latches, and a sturdy lid support that locks into place at a precise 90° angle. The background material is reinforced with a polymer substrate for added durability. Contact www.sharpics.com for more details.
